Who will you make a monument for?

What will it be?

Berlin Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

  • Who will you pick?

  • What did they do?

  • What will your monument look like?

  • What will it be made of?

  • Where will it be?

Sketch your responses!

Now that everyone has chosen a person or people to create a monument for, it's time to plan what it will look like. Step 3 is for sketching our ideas and making artistic decisions!
In your sketchbook, create at least 3 different sketches for possible monuments. Be sure to include what your different ideas would look like from the side, from above, and from below. Make a note of the size you'd want each one to be- remember, these are miniature monuments, so nothing larger than 8 inches x 8 inches.
On each sketch, write a sentence or two about why you chose to make your sketch look the way you did. Does something in your sketch represent the person or people you chose? What makes your sketch special?
Take pictures of your sketchbook pages when you are done and upload them to Google Classroom.
In order to receive full credit for this step, you must...
  1. Create three different sketches in your sketchbook for possible miniature monument designs.
  2. Each sketch page should have a drawing of the side view, above view, and below view of your design, if you were to hold it in your hand.
  3. Each sketch should also have the width and height labeled in inches (with none larger than 8 inches by 8 inches.
  4. For each sketch you make, include 1-2 sentences about why you decided on this possible design, and what any symbols or objects might mean.
  5. Post an image of your page(s) to Google Classroom.
