What do you have to say?

What does your art say for you?

Monument to the Women of World War II

This final step involves reflecting on what you created, and your reasons for doing so. Each of you will create artists statements that answer the following questions:

  • Who did you choose to represent and why did you choose them?

  • Why did you design your miniature monument this way? What made you select this design out of the ones you sketched?

  • Where would you want a full-size version of your monument to be located? Why?

  • What do you think someone viewing your monument would understand or believe about the person/people it represents? Why?

You can choose to complete your artist statement in your sketchbook, as a written paragraph, or as an audio recording, done with GarageBand, where you speak your answers. Either way, make sure to upload to Google Classroom when you are done, along with a photograph of your finished, 3D printed miniature monument!

Reflect on your ideas!

In order to receive full credit for this step, you must...
  1. Create a written or recorded artist statement that talks about who you chose and why, your reasoning for choosing the design you did, where you think your monument could be located, and what a viewer would think about it.
  2. Upload your artist statement and an image of your printed miniature monument to Google Classroom.
